As a realtor, I’m a big believer in the power of home renovations — especially if you’re planning to sell your house in Festus.
Gone are the days of selling property “as is” here in Jefferson County. Without preparing your home, it won’t sell for top dollar, nor will it sell quickly. And of course, we want both of those things (top dollar and a quick sale) so you can move into your new place without a hassle.
To make sure that happens, the first thing I recommend to all my sellers is decluttering. Seriously, get a dumpster from Mom & Me Junk Removal and throw away extra stuff in your house. It makes a huge difference.
If there are specific things you’ll need in your new home, consider renting a storage unit until it’s time to move. You can use it to store personal photos and anything that’s currently taking up space on your countertops, tables, and dressers. Bonus points if your closets are tidy and simplified!
Another renovation to consider is paint. If you haven’t painted your home in the last few years, it’s time for a touch-up. And if it’s been longer than that, your house could use a fresh coat of a neutral color. That’s quite a project on top of everything else, so I suggest calling Ritter Painting Services for a quote.
Of course, cleaning your house is a must. (Yep, this needs to be said.) Besides the kitchen, bathrooms, and floors, it’s important to deep clean your exchange vents, blinds, ceiling fans, light fixtures, and windows.
And if you, like most people, don’t particularly enjoy deep cleaning (especially amid a chaotic move), let the pros handle it. I recommend Buzy Bee Cleaning to all my clients. They always get the job done swiftly and with precision.
Finally, keep in mind that curb appeal matters! Fix up the exterior of your home with fresh mulch, swap out any broken bricks, and trim your trees and bushes. And if your house is currently lacking curb appeal altogether, call Reynolds Landscaping and Lawncare. They’ve got you covered.
Remember, if you want your home to sell for top dollar, you have to cover your bases. As a guy who sells houses for a living, these are definitely the projects I recommend tackling first.
